Thursday was a beautiful day. Everything seemed so clear, clean and fresh after the much needed rain. Convicted Irish Republican Army guerrilla Raymond McCreesh died early Thursday in the 61st day of a hunger strike, following two other IRA members to their death after hunger strikes. Tonight at 7 o'clock is the last night for the Tryon annexation hearings. After this hearing, the council will come up with a written report as to what areas they will annex if any and a schedule of services that will be offered to the areas annexed. The vote on the sale of beer and wine in the Town of Columbus will be held Saturday at the Town Office. Mrs. Andrews is the former Ella Brookshire of Henderson County. For many years her late husband operated a livery stable in Flat Rock in the summer and in Tryon in the winter Mrs. Andrews still spends the summers in Flat Rock She is the oldest member of the Tryon Congregational Church. Landrum Bands In Concert Sunday The Landrum Concert Band and Jazz Band will give a free concert Sunday at 3 p.m. at the A. R. Walden gymnasium at Landrum High School Correction Tryon PTA President. Dr. Mark McCall, has pointed out that at the May 18th Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting Commissioner Butler stated that in general the people he has talked with — would NOT Oppose an increase in the 10c a hundred local tax. It’s Frazier-Foster Ford, Inc. Tryon Motors. Inc is now Frazier-Foster Ford, Inc according to an announcement by Sam Frazier, president. Other officers are Ray Foster, vice president and Dixie Frazier, secretary. Tryon Motors was founded in 1959 by the late Willis E Kuhn. He was joined by Mr Frazier in 1974 and upon Mr Kuhn's death in 1977, Mr. Frazier bought the rest of the company from Mr. Kuhn's estate Mr Foster joined Tryon Motors in 1980 Mr Frazier said that their objective is to increase their sales and to give better service. He stated that Ray Daumiller was the service manager; Ansel Day, Body Shop Manager and Mike Edney was Parts Manager. Mr. Frazier said that he was pleased to announce that Bobby Joe Stott had joined them as Assistant Manager. Mr. Stott had had a number of years experience in the automobile sales and service
